What is makemotion?

How is this different from AI video generators?

A generator gives you a flat clip. To change one word, you generate again and hope the rest stays the same. makemotion builds an editable project: every text, clip and keyframe is its own layer, so a change takes seconds and everything else stays exactly as it was.

Do I need motion design skills?

No. Describe what you want and refine it with follow-up prompts. If you do know motion design, every layer, keyframe and easing curve is there to adjust by hand.
